Notice the care in the window dressing, don’t see that now a days, instead a large paper poster goes in the window telling you to buy this or that, or what is becoming frequent telling you they are closing down,
Wasn’t there shops in town called “The smokeries” ? and another called “Spogers”. and a ladies hair dresser called “Alice Griffins”These names have come filtering back into my mind, shops with a little bit of character I think.

@ 1940ish: Good shout mate! I seriously cannot remember this place! & thats what I really like about this site! Yer stories & endless photo’s I have none! but @ very late stage in my”above ground & breathin” bit I have left I save these bits & just when not @ work just go thro’ it all that I got & its great & from all of you in Grantham thanks that send stuff in! Thing is me usin a pinched tablet off my mate! or mebs ex mate now haha! Need to get them in my office to download this stuff’ & send to my home address! Thanks @ 1940ish!
