Can’t remember the chip shop. Was it there long?
And I wonder what the faded painted sign said above the H Templeman & son shop.

Seem to remember Templeman’ s was a bakery, did a very nice line in ‘iced fingers’ or maybe they were the only thing within budget? Other half of shop was grocer/greengrocer?
I also think that what by the 80’s had become a chip shop had previously been a pork butchers, and the name Dodds, is coming to mind??
Is it my imagination but was there another butchers at bottom of Commercial Road that sold ‘horsemeat’ long before Tesco scandal? I have visions of large joints of dark red meat in the window?
