This year’s SK Charity Cup dedicated to former referee

March 22, 2024 Leave a Comment

Once again, this year, The South Kesteven Charity Cup will be providing competitive pre-season games for local sides and raising money for local charities. The teams have been invited and the draw has been completed and we are proud to announce that the South Kesteven Charity Cup is back for its fourth year.

This year’s competition will be held in memory of Mick Massingham who sadly passed away late last year, a committee member and long-time supporter of grassroots football.

On the 13th July and 20th July 2024, four local teams will be competing for the Charity Cup and for their nominated charities. This year we welcome back the 2023 champions Sleaford Town FC. They are joined by Grantham Town FC, Harrowby United and newcomers to the competition, Deeping Rangers.

Each team has nominated a charity to benefit from the fundraising. The charities are Rainbow Stars (Sleaford Town FC), Grantham Disabled Childrens Society (Grantham Town FC), Grantham Autistic Information Network (Harrowby United) and Dementia Support South Lincs (Deeping Rangers).

On July 13th, the two semi-finals are Deeping Rangers v Grantham Town at The Haydon Whitham Stadium, Outgang Road, Towngate East, Market Deeping and Harrowby United v Sleaford Town at The JRL Brickwork Stadium, Dickens Road, Grantham, Both games kick off at 3pm. Finals day is on July 20th at The South Kesteven Sports Stadium on Trent Road, Grantham.

The 3rd/4th place game between the two losing semi-finalists will kick off at 12:30 pm with the final between the two winning semi-finalists kicking off 3:30pm. Around the two games at the Meres will be a whole host of activities and Charity stalls to make it a wonderful day out enjoying good football and raising much needed funds for local charities.

Committee Chairman, Cllr. Ian Selby said, “It is great to bring back the competition for its fourth year and looking forward to raising much needed funds for the nominated charities”. This year’s competition is once again sponsored by Rowley’s Commercial Energy Assessment. We are looking for further sponsorship for our tournament.
