Following a Freedom of Information Act request, Melton Borough Council has confirmed the Belvoir Hunt (Duke of Rutland’s Hounds) has been awarded £25,000 of monetary relief provided under the Retail, Hospitality & leisure grant fund scheme.
The council, which covers Leicestershire villages between Grantham and Melton Mowbray, also provided rate relief as as follows…
- Discretionary relief for the Period 1st July 2001 to 1st March 2012 – £12,528.14
- Small Business Relief 1st April 2006 to 31st March 2017 – £14,914.61
- Supporting Small Business Relief 1st April 2017 to current date. – £12,444.41
- Retail Discount 1st April 2020 to present date – £5,359.78
It was also confirmed that Hunt met the qualifying criteria for the Discretionary Grants for the Period
1st July 2001 to 1st March 2012 – 40% Discretionary only charitable relief. This was awarded on the basis that the organisation was not conducted for profit.
The grants do not involve council tax paid by South Kesteven residents.
The Duke of Rutland, with assets of 140m, is 14th in the Leicestershire Rich List.
