1Life is pleased to announce it has re-opened all of its leisure centres and pools, including Grantham and the rest of South Kesteven, following the temporary closures caused by Lockdown 2.0.
Following advice and guidance from the government as well as the fitness trade body ukactive, independent scientific advisors, not to mention 1Life’s own vigorous health and safety procedures, 1Life has done all that it can to ensure the safe return of its members, community and staff.
As was the case before the lockdown, members and customers will be asked to book any sessions and attendance in advance, enabling 1Life to monitor and manage capacities and to ensure social distancing is fully adhered to.
As was done during the first national lockdown between March and July, 1Life has again used this time to upskill, upgrade and further improve its health and safety procedures, as well as its operating standards, to ensure social distancing and hygiene are at the highest levels.
Mark Braithwaite, CEO of 1Life is excited to welcome back 1Life members and facility users and wants to reassure them that they will be safe. He says: “It’s clear that our members, communities, and the nation as a whole have really missed being able to attend their local leisure centres and pools during this second lockdown, so we’re delighted to reopen our doors and look forward to seeing everyone enjoying all the benefits of physical activity once again. We want to ensure that members and facility users feel comfortable in our facilities, and we continue to follow the very latest advice and procedures to ensure a safe service and operation.”
As a further confidence boost for 1Life members and facility users, the results of the recent SafeACTIVE survey, commissioned by leading fitness industry association Europe Active, revealed that the average infection rate within fitness clubs and leisure facilities (including both members and staff) sits at just 0.78 per 100,000 visits, based on analysis of over 62 million visits.
The changes and procedures implemented by 1Life during the first lockdown remain in place, allowing exercisers to work out at a safe distance from each another. 1Life staff will continue carrying out stringent cleaning routines throughout the day, and sanitisation stations are available throughout 1Life facilities to ensure the highest possible standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
Leisure centre users and swimmers will be asked to limit their time in the changing rooms and showers in accordance with government guidelines. Some cubicles may be locked to reflect the bather load capacity and to allow for deeper cleaning in the showers/areas that are being used.
“Leisure centres and pools play an instrumental role in the physical and mental wellbeing of our nation,” adds Braithwaite. “The reopening couldn’t come sooner and the whole team is eager to get back to action to support our members and users by providing the best and safest experiences possible.”
