Recreation drugs sold in Lincoln causing serious illness

January 29, 2023 by Grantham Matters Leave a Comment

Lincolnshire Police are issuing a warning over using recreational drugs following a number of reports of people becoming unwell over the past 48 hours.

Since Friday (27 January) they have received reports of five people either collapsing or having otherwise adverse effects after taking recreational drugs.

It is believed that the drugs used in all incidents were either ketamine or cocaine. In all cases, people have required either medical assistance at the scene or hospital treatment.

They are investigating the source of the drugs and we would ask anyone with information to get in touch.

Police say they do not know at this stage what has caused the adverse reactions, but we are considering that the supply is tainted and would strongly urge people to avoid taking drugs.

The locations of incidents have varied, and include the city centre and an area north of the city. A 24-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs and a 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply in connection with one of the incidents (Incident 418 of 28 January relates). They are not being considered in connection with the other incidents.

If you have any information which could help, please get in touch with DC Sarah Clemence on sarah.clemence@lincs.police.uk  and reference “Adverse drugs reactions”. Alternatively call 101 and ask to speak with DC Clemence in Lincoln CID.
