The #portraitsfornhsheroe is an initiative set up by artist Tom Croft.
He originally offered a free portrait to an NHS frontline staff member as a thank you for their work during the pandemic.
He then decided that other artists may want to get involved in the project.
There are now thousands of artists all over the UK taking part.I have painted three portraits so far – a Macmillan nurse from West Sussex, two doctors (a psychiatrist and a cancer surgeon) and I also have a student nurse (working on a Covid ward) and an eye surgeon to paint next.
The student nurse’s Mum was my best friend from primary school!I was born and live in Grantham and thought it might be an interesting piece?

I wanted to join in to say thanks for their amazing work now and always.
Our youngest son spent a week in Sheffield children’s hospital at the end of Aug last year when he became seriously ill. He had four blood transfusions and a major op.
We will be forever grateful to the NHS staff that took such good care of him.
