Petition for pedestrian crossings at Bridge End Road junction just short of target

November 15, 2021 by Grantham Matters Leave a Comment

A Grantham man who launched a petition calling for a pedestrian crossing at busy junction is just over 100 signatures short of his target

Brandan Evans started this petition last week and already 883 people have signed it. The target is 1,000.

There is currently no pedestrian right of way at the junction, where Bridge End Road, South Parade, London Road and Springfield Road meet..

Mr Evans said: ” This results in many near misses and one day it will be too late and someone will get knocked over or killed.

“This affects many young people and is a busy crossing due to McDonalds being here so majority of the people affected are the youngsters which don’t drive.

“They are refurbishing a crossing in the town centre, but why refurbish something when we have a major issue at this junction on a daily basis?

“My main objective is to get multiple pedestrian crossings here and make this junction a safer place for people to cross.”

Two years ago, County Highways carried aout ‘major improvements’ at the junction, but did not included pedestrians.
