Daniel Pearce completed Cyprus’ Ayia Napa Half Marathon 2023 in an unofficial time of 1:31:21, yesterday.
Awaiting for the proper results to come through, but this was a big personal best
Daniel, who with his mother Jill runs several Tae Kwando clubs in the county, said: “Technically I have gone quicker before, but last year’s controversial Great Eastern Run doesn’t officially count.
“Today went according to plan early on, I was ahead of target pace and setting new bests at every distance up to 10 miles before the sun rose higher in the sky and started to sap my energy. The last couple of miles were slower but I still managed to hang on for a decent time.”
A well marshalled course of 3 x 7k laps took them from Nissi Beach to the harbour at Agia Thekla and back, so there was a fantastic opportunity to get in the sea to celebrate afterwards!
