LINCOLNSHIRE’S ‘gamechangers’ put the county in a unique position for inward investment, according to the team that represented it at the world’s largest property event.
Ambassadors from Team Lincolnshire – a partnership between the public and private sectors – flew the flag for the Greater Lincolnshire region at MIPIM, a global gathering of more than 20,000 investors in Cannes, France.
Speaking on behalf of the wider county, the group promoted major projects across the region in its key sectors, including food, defence and renewable energy.
Tony Reynolds, inward investment manager at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “Our big investment messages have been around what we call our ‘gamechangers’ – the key characteristics that make Lincolnshire stand out from the crowd and appeal to businesses and investors.
“We have a very ‘can do’ attitude in the county, with the local authorities such as ourselves working incredibly closely with Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership, Team Lincolnshire and other organisations in the public and private sectors to create an atmosphere that is welcoming to inward investment.
“We’re open for business, and we want to hear from people that want to work with us and deliver future opportunities for Greater Lincolnshire.”
Cllr Colin Davie, of Lincolnshire County Council, said: “One of Lincolnshire’s biggest benefits is that it is really strong in sectors that are going to be critical to the UK’s future. We produce a lot of the nation’s food, and our core role in the UK Food Valley demonstrates this perfectly.
“There’s a huge amount of investment in the new Food Enterprise Zone around Holbeach, and with planning applications in for a similar concept at Hemswell, it’s a really great time to be investing in Lincolnshire.”
Under the Team Lincolnshire banner, the group supported several key events, including hosting a welcome reception and sponsoring the annual Pygott and Crone lunch, which catered for more than 50 potential investors.
Tim Downing, director at Pygott and Crone – an estate agency based in Lincolnshire – said: “Team Lincolnshire is a tremendous partnership which started solely as a group to represent the county at MIPIM, but it has really grown wings and has had serious buy-in from other sectors as well.
“When we came over to MIPIM in the early days, people didn’t really know anything about Lincolnshire, but that tone has changed drastically over the years.
“People want to hear about the great work that is being done in the county, and the opportunities it can provide.”
