Day Break, an exciting new facility at Grantham College that offers a safe, nurturing environment for people requiring care and additional support with the opportunity for one to one provision, is now in operation.
It is planned to help build confidence and improve social skills, develop independence, make new friends, and much more.
Recently opened within the brand new, purpose built Learning Development Centre at the college, this service provides families with the opportunity for respite day care.
Day Break offers a personalised programme of activities for young adults with a learning disability or difficulty. The highly qualified, experienced and caring staff design programmes of activities that cater for all interests and needs.
They apply over 50 years of experience in the care sector to craft sessions that are fun and develop creativity enabling new skills towards independence.
The new facility offers two bespoke personal care suites, a multi-sensory room and an adapted kitchen, 2 ICT suites, an art and craft area and dedicated classrooms. The adapted minibus is used for trips out and about in the community which broadens the scope of development and growth.
Members are also encouraged to widen their experiences within the College in house beauty salons, replica aeroplane, drama studio, PowerSports gym, cottage gardens and two cafes.
This offers a unique opportunity for members to mix safely with other young people within the college.
Open on Mondays and Thursdays 8.30am to 5.00pm and Fridays 8.30am to 4.30pm throughout the year.
