Lincolnshire Co-op has submitted a planning application to South Kesteven District Council to build a convenience store on vacant land on Low Road in Barrowby.
Subject to planning, the development would create approximately 15 jobs and would represent an investment of £1.5m.
The convenience store would be 3000sqft with 21 car parking spaces including 2 disabled spaces.
Services would include freshly baked bread, a food-to-go range and chilled beers and wines as well as a wide range of groceries. The store would also stock Lincolnshire Co-op’s Love Local range.
People living in Barrowby would be able to sign up to be members of Lincolnshire Co-op.
They’d receive a dividend card and would get a range of benefits including dividend when they shop, a dividend bonus at the end of the year and the chance to raise money for local good causes through the Community Champions scheme.
Store Development Manager Matthew Wilkinson said: “We believe our plan will offer people in the village of Barrowby valuable new services and would give residents the chance to do their shopping locally, without having to travel to bigger villages or towns.”
Lincolnshire Co-op runs nearby services including Grantham Travel Branch as well as Barrowby Gate Pharmacy and Springfield Road Food Store in Grantham.
