Coun Richard Davies says…

Immediately following our ongoing crossing works in Great Gonerby, we’ll be heading to Barrowby Road to build two more new pedestrian crossings – one at the Poplar Farm end and another at the Greenhill Road end.
We’ll be starting at the western end of Barrowby Road, south of Poplar Farm, in June for a month before heading east to build another crossing near Greenhill Road this autumn. As the local councillor for these areas,
I’ve taken the feedback people have shared with me on-board and fought to get these two new crossings built.
The general feeling amongst residents is that these two new pieces of infrastructure will make it much easier for people to access Poplar Farm Primary School and the schools, shops and allotments near Greenhill Road. Barrowby Road pedestrian crossing is being built next month.
I understand that this may cause some inconvenience, especially as it wasn’t possible to program it while the housing developer was doing their work. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to build this much-needed crossing. It could take up to 5 weeks, but I’m pushing to have it completed sooner
Dates and timeframes:
Monday 3 June for up to five weeks Location of works: Barrowby Road near Poplar Farm, located just east of the footpath across from Barrowby Road that connects to the primary school Traffic management: 24/7 temporary traffic signals – these will be removed when not required but a three-night road closure will be required to lay the final road surfacing at the start of July, with a diversion route via A1 / A607, and vice versa.
