A 45-year-old man arrested in connection with a champagne robbery has been sentenced to 17 weeks in prison after being charged with two offences.
Scott Revell, 45, of Victoria Street in Allerton Bywater, Castleford, Leeds, was charged with driving while disqualified, and driving without insurance. He appeared at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Saturday, 17 February) and was given the custodial sentence, along with six points on his licence.
Another man arrested in connection with the incident has been release on police bail while investigations continue.
Police two people on Friday for a variety of driving, theft and vehicle offences following quick work by Response officers in the Grantham area.
They received a report that a lorry was being broken into on the northbound A1 slip at Foston at 2.40am
Two pallets of champagne were reported stolen.
Officers were immediately dispatched and a white Mercedes van fled the location, and officers have then used policing tactics to stop the vehicle just south of Balderton. There was a collision between the police vehicle and the van, but thankfully nobody was reported injured.
The road was closed at the Long Bennington turn-off for a short time while officers responded to the incident, and two people were detained at 3.04am.
Further inquiries showed the van had been reported stolen from the Yorkshire area.
