Lock up shops on London Road

THE St Peter’s Hill end of London Road in 1980. The old lock-up shops are gone, replace by Leonard Audus House, and the Nag’s Head became a restaurant.

    I’m with you on that one Gordon, Just wait till the new King 31 site is completed the town will be totally destroyed, Planners and Councillors, short sighted and immensely ignorant of the public and towns actual needs. Throughout the years they have stumbled from catastrophic calamity to the next without ever considering their actions in the long term. Always smiling, telling us they know best, you could write down what these people know on the back of a stamp.

      Hello, John, I am sure it was owned by an old “Road Racer” of sidecar fame in the day? now I am putting my’self out there as the likes of Mr “Tim Harris & Bro’ ” haha! will jump on me from a great height, & some of his mates! “that Yoey knows nowt” haha ‘ I am going to say, John? Bill Boddice? perhaps a million miles out there! I dare not mention Ray Frisby? he will or would have slaughtered me, & Mr Ebbins & on & On?? Alan Cox? I Think Mr Alan Cox, bought the business of Bill Boddice! there said it twice now! & if you hear different John please let me know! I am sure I am close! Tony.

    One of these used to be John Willie Wrights Army and Navy stores until the late 70’s.
