GRANTHAM College Learning Development Centre formally opens tomorrow (Friday).
The centre follows a grant of £934,000 from the Education Funding Agency (EFA) last August to create a dedicated suite of facilities for students with learning difficulties to help them continue studying after mainstream school.
The funding has enabled specialist classrooms, a personal care area, an accessible kitchen and sensory room, IT suite, first aid and physiotherapy room to be built allowing the college to grow its provision to meet the demand from the local area.
The funding which comes from Demographic Growth Capital Fund is aimed at creating a facility that is safe and secure meeting the needs of more students, building on existing facilities that were put into place in 2012, providing the capacity to accommodate growth in transition students and those on the autistic spectrum.
As part of this project Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy relocated to the college’s new site on St Catherine’s Road in May providing new state of the art facilities.
The centre will be opened by Grantham & Stamford MP Nick Boles MP.
