Last days of Ruston & Hornsby

In 1997 these buildings, once part of Richard Hornsby’s massive engineering works, were demolished. In later years it had been Ruston & Hornsby then Alfred Wiseman (owned by English Electric).
They are taken from Station Road East.
Part of them had been opened as an enterprise centre by Diana, Princess of Wales (see extra picture) just 10 years earlier.
The former engineering works had been used by Sleaford builders merchants Pattinsons (later Harcross) and several small companies including Winfield Engineering.
The area is now used for station parking and a car boot sale on Sundays., London Road in December 1997
