Anon says,
Here’s some pics I took on Saturday evening, including location.
I’m quite concerned tbh from what I have read via the media, this is a destructive invasive plant it needs dealing with a.s.a.p!
It looks like someone has fly tipped it here!
NB: Japanese knotweed (Fallopia japonica) is a highly invasive plant species that poses significant ecological and economic challenges in the UK. Originally introduced as an ornamental plant in the 19th century, it has since spread aggressively, outcompeting native vegetation and damaging infrastructure.
Its rapid growth and dense root system can undermine building foundations, roads, and flood defenses, leading to costly repairs. Japanese knotweed is notoriously difficult to eradicate, requiring persistent management efforts, including chemical treatments and physical removal.
The presence of this plant can also impact property values and complicate real estate transactions, as it is legally classified as a controlled plant, necessitating specialised surveys and remediation plans. The UK’s efforts to control Japanese knotweed underscore the broader challenges of managing invasive species and protecting biodiversity.
