In the very early 1970s I worked at GRS and used to bring down the dumper bodies for Barfords RD 35 I think, but I could be wrong, they came from Richards engineering in Darlington.
Barfords was a huge site and a major employer of highly skilled men, Houghton Road used to be chocked with cars and men in blue overalls on bikes at 4.30pm, Real people with real jobs all gone still they could chuck up yet another supermarket on the site, better still they could cheap poorly constructed housing offering exciting lifestyles that no one can afford.
