MORE than 100 health workers marched through Grantham in 1988 and laid a wreath at the corner shop on North Parade where Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher was born. On the left is Sister Jean Ward.
Pictured in the foreground are Jean Ward of CoSHE (left), Richard Pitt of the Royal College of Nursing, and Joyce Yates of NUPE, together with Mr Pitts four-year-old daughter Rachael. They were demanding more Government money for the NHS.
Although the NHS survived, the buildings behind them didnt. The large building is the Blue Bell inn, on the corner of North Street and Barrowby Road. The building to the left is Leyland Cars dealer RM Wright. The site of the buildings is now a wider road and part of Asda car park
