The NHS trust that provides mental health services, learning disability and autism services in
Lincolnshire is looking for people to sit on its Council of Governors.
Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LPFT) is holding elections for its Council of
Governors this summer and nominations are now open for positions within the service user and
carer constituency.
Seven service user, three general carer and one young people carer governor positions are up for
election, with by-elections for staff governor roles in adult inpatient and older adult services being
conducted at the same time.
LPFT governors help shape the trust’s direction and represent the views and opinions of members
and the public. They play a vital role in ensuring that people’s views are heard and that the trust’s
services continually improve.
Debbie Abrams OBE, LPFT’s Lead Governor said: “On behalf of the Council of Governors, I would
like to take this opportunity to encourage those interested in making a difference to run in the
upcoming governor elections.
“Governors help to oversee the work of LPFT and ensure that the non-executive directors of the
trust are delivering their duties, for the benefit of the local community.
“As a governor you are able to get involved in a range of opportunities including staff recruitment,
service visits and conferences, which not only support the development of LPFT services, but also
your own personal and professional development.
“The service user and carer constituency is particularly important, as it allows the elected governors
to provide insight and feedback based on lived experience. This is a great opportunity to get
involved and support the local community.”
Nominations remain open until 5pm on Monday 25 July, with voting taking place throughout August
and early September. Results of the election will be declared later in September.
Trust Chair, Kevin Lockyer added: “Being a Foundation Trust means we have members and
governors at the heart of what we do and how we do it.
“We would like people to come forward who want to help us achieve service improvements for the
local community and to ensure that the trust continues to deliver the highest standard of care.”
