The 2021 Heckington Show will go ahead on Saturday, albeit in a different format and for one day instead of the usual two.
The popular village event – the largest of its kind in the country – is held annually on the last weekend of July.
Yet despite the release of the roadmap there had been uncertainty as to whether it could take place this year due to the ongoing threat of Covid-19.
However, following the recent government announcement organisers announced there will be a smaller One Day Show with Firework Concert in the evening on Saturday 24th July 2021.
There will any of the usual events as possible, only on a smaller scale with reduced numbers. Due to Covid they have also reduced the number of enclosed spaces and marquees at the show and focussed the main ring programme and on usual competitions.
Announcing the news on Facebook, organisers wrote: “Following the recent government announcement we are delighted to announce that there will be a Heckington Show in 2021.
“We are planning a smaller one day show with firework concert in the evening on Saturday July 24 2021.
“We are keen for people to be involved, so are planning as many of our usual events as possible, only on a smaller scale with reduced numbers.
“Due to covid we have also reduced the number of enclosed spaces and marquees at the show and focused our main ring programme on our usual competitions.
“The decision is based on the Government’s road-map which is targeting allowing outdoor gatherings such as ours in Stage 4 after June 21.
“The situation will be regularly reviewed and we will only go ahead with the Show if we can do so safely and legally in accordance with all Government guidance and regulations in force at the time.”
