Grantham High Street a century ago

There’s a lot to see in this 1908 High Street picture.The George with a curious shop on the left.The upstairs bow shop window is H and W Bird,watchmakers, jewellers and opticians
.Facing is Alfred Butterfield, solicitors, which became the National Provincial Bank.On the right is Barlows advertising cigars.Briggs and Gamble, homoepathic chemists, which was demolished in 1933 to make way for Marks and Spencer.Drakards, cycle agent advertising Pratts oil.Next door is Wilkinsons the saddlers and the sign on the far right identifies the Depot of the Society for Preserving Christian Excellence.And to finish it off a flock of sheep.
