FIREFIGHTERS used a water backpack to extinguish a bonfire within a wooded area behind Denton Avenue, Grantham, at midnight last night.
It was caused by a group of people described by residents as “drinking, letting off fireworks, shouting and screaming, playing music and lighting fires”.
Police were called at 11.15pm to report the disturbance.
One neighbour said: “Through experience I know that the anti-social behaviour just spirals out of control if it is not stopped.
“If you take a walk into the woods it is disgusting the mess they are making, rubbish, broken bottles and cans litter the area, they are also damaging the trees.”
The problem usually begins in summer but there have been raves for the past four weeks this year.
Police have been involved over the last few years and they have been very helpful and try their best to stop this behaviour. SKDC anti-social behaviour team has also been involved.
The woodland is private property.
The owner encourages dog-walkers, children playing and repectful campers on his land but not this drunken disturbance.
