It may have screened some of the best films ever made and staged the world’s top rock n roll stars, but progress in Grantham is no respector of such trivia. These pictures show the demolition of the Granada Cinema in 1988

LAST days of the Granada in 1988. A hole had been knocked in the side wall off Bath Street for demolition contractors to get in their equipment. March 1988
Graphic photos of a very sad time. As I was born in 1942 I lived through the heydays of the Granada.. Enjoyed many Sunday nights singing with Ken on the Compton organ and later appearing on the stage with the Kobalts and The King Bees. It’s a shame that Grantham has no such facility now.. Thanks(?) for showing these photos. Keep up the good work Grantham Matters.
Demolished all to make way for a supermarket, sounds about right for Grantham.
