Fighting to keep Grantham Post Office

March 6, 2019 by Grantham Matters Leave a Comment

Grantham Labour Party continued its campaign to save Grantham Post Office, opposing its move to the back of W H Smith.

John Morgan, Secretary of Grantham Labour Party (pictured), said: “Members of the Labour Party and the Communications Workers Union (CWU) have been collecting petition signatures against the closure of Grantham Post Office over the last few Saturdays. We had a good response from the people of Grantham, most of which do not seem to want to see our Post Office closed, either.”

He added: “I posted the completed pages of the petition off to the CWU today. I had to use the Post Office, as it needed weighing, and I wanted it sent recorded. I had excellent service.

“There was no queue, and I was served by someone who knew what they were doing. I am concerned that a move to W H Smith will turn working in the post office into a minimum wage job, with a high turnover of staff.

“This is bad news for customers, as you are less likely to be served by someone who knows as much.”
