An unusual view of Wide Westgate taken from the big wheel at the Mid-Lent Fair in 1969. The cottages on the left were demolished to make way for Great Northern Court, while the single-storey building and gate (bottom left) was Pattinsons builders merchants. The company used the old maltings as a warehouse. The cottages on the left were pulled down to make way for Great Northern Court. The taller building adjacent was variously the Blue Anchor pub, Melton Farmers and Plamore Sport.
