Fantastic photo, very atmospheric, Grantham was once full of those tiny cottages that we all like to see when we go on holiday, somehow I don’t think the houses of today ( although warmer and have bathrooms and indoor toilets) are better, these cottages and streets brought people together.
I remember the street where I was brought up with people taking their parents Sunday dinner to them several doors away with the dinner plate covered with a tea towel. You don’t see that kind of thing anymore. We have vast faceless housing estates but no community.

Going to Saturday morning pictures, go home to my mothers ” Ham shank and peas” for dinner. Then out with my mates until it got dark, We didn’t cause anyone any bother, We rode our bikes where we wanted, We had fun that is before the political, and legal, Health and Safety can’t do this and can’t do that brigade got power, after which it all changed, people changed gone was community and it was and continues to be replaced by cynicism, bring back the houses on streets that’s what I say. While they are at it they can bring back BAZOOKA CHEWING GUM AS WELL remember that?

I used to go for a flagan or two down the Spotted Cow in my day, Id say you could be around 65 or so, by the way you describe events that have taken place in Grantham, Hell its altered you would not recognise the place, you go to work in the morning and when you come home at night another housing estate has been built. You say you live in Suffolk, me Im Lincolshire through and through and very proud of it .Lived all over town, Edward Street, Dysart Road, Pretoria road, up Gonerby, and on Dudley road and Brading Avenue. worked all over the place too, GRS, Coles Vaculugs happy days young and free, wouldnt want my time over again though, we had the best of it in the late 60s and early 70s out at the wekkend down town for a glass or two the round to the after eight or what ever it was calling itself that week, if you were lucky you met a good looking girl, simple pleasures. how about you???
