Cyclist killed at Barkston Heath is named

April 16, 2015 Leave a Comment

THE cyclist who died in the collision on the High Dyke at Barkston Heath on Sunday has been named.

He was 32-year-old Timothy Alan Smith from Grantham.

An inquest will be opened in due course. It will be adjourned, date to be fixed, to allow the police to complete their investigation into the incident.

Emergency services were called to the B6403, at Barkston Heath about 9.15 on Sunday where a blue Mercedes car had been in collision with a cyclist.

The  driver of the car, a man in his fifties, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and later released on police bail.

The road was closed until about 2pm while police carried out an investigation.

There is an appeal for witnesses to the collision or for anyone who was in the Barkston Heath area  about 9.15am on Sunday and saw either the blue Mercedes or the cyclist before the collision or saw the collision itself to contact police via the 101 number.

Constable John Parkhouse from the Roads Policing Unit is dealing with the incident.
