After 12 years based in Grantham,, the time has come for Chantry Dance to announce its closure.
Chantry’s co-Artistic Directors Rae and Paul are relocating to Germany, and offer huge congratulations to Paul who will be taking a full-time position in dance education there.
Rae will continue with her choreographic and performance work on an international basis, but will not be running Chantry Dance company or School, both of which will close after the end of this academic year in July.
All activities prior to this will continue as planned, including our Origins Youth Company show, Associate programmes and Summer Intensives.
Rae and Grantham-born Paul said: “Chantry Dance has had a fantastic life from 2012-2024, creating a body of work with the professional company that we’re extremely proud of – entertaining audiences all over the UK and bringing people to contemporary dance and ballet who have never seen it before.
Alongside this, Chantry’s education department has offered excellent training and nurturing to many young dancers over the years. Every single student that has danced with Chantry has been special to us, and we hope that they have taken something from Chantry that will aid them in their future, whether that involves dance or otherwise.
We’ll be very sad to close Chantry, but look forward to the future and all we have yet to explore in our industry. We wish all our dancers, creatives, team, students and audiences the very best and would like to thank each and every one for making Chantry the beautiful and special place it has been.”
