A total of almost £11,000 has been awarded to projects across the district under the latest round of South Kesteven District Council’s Community Fund.
Road safety, a village hall and storytelling for young families are all set to benefit from grant approvals.
Cllr Annie Mason, SKDC’s Cabinet Member for people and Safer Communities said: “It’s great to see how our first awards of the year are going to support such very different projects.
“That’s what makes our community fund so very important to so many charities and organisations across the district and we look forward to supporting many more in 2023.”
Deepings Literary Festival on 27/28 May will be boosted by an award of £2,179 towards a book themed Storyfest weekend of activities for young families involving local children’s authors and performers.
Free activities will add to the high-quality educational opportunities already scheduled at the Deepings Library and Community Centre to extend the festival’s packed calendar.
Motorists passing through Marston village will meet two flashing speed warning signs thanks to a £4,492 award towards installation of new indicator signs.
Applicant Marston Parish Council hopes that additional prominent signs will slow down traffic, giving residents more confidence to walk along the main road and increase local footfall to village facilities.
Westborough Village Hall Committee can claim £4,263 as part of a £17,000 project to install new toilets in premises used by a wide section of the village’s dispersed community.
Current facilities are 50 years old and in need of modernization. Replacement will improve general hygiene and make the facilities more suitable for elderly and disabled visitors.
An April date to submit new Community Fund applications will be announced soon for determination by SKDC’s fund panel of Chairs and Vice Chairs of its Overview and Scrutiny Committees.
