Loosing M&S clothes was a big loss. I have to travel to Lincoln, Nottingham or Foss Park at Leicester now
It has to boe said that towns up and down this land have had stalls and later shops on the High Street for hundreds of years, particularly Grantham where the Great North Road ran through the town. Sad to say that progress has now changed what was once a major aspect of any town and an important part of everyday societal living.
It is true the internet and on line shopping in particular has had one massive detrimental effect on how we shop.
The High Street as we knew it is passing and with it many of the once familiar names who’s premises we frequented, what now fill these spaces is sadly the usual assortment of vape shops, charity shops, betting shops, and dubious food outlets, cheap clothing shops, and stores offering everything you could ever need for one pound, non of these fill the void left by the names they replace and we are only kidding ourselves if we think they do.
People wanted internet shopping, free delivery on everything, ease and convenience now I’m afraid we are paying for such changes, and it’s only the tip of the iceberg……….
