Lakshmi Narayan Chakrabarti (1930-2016)
Dr Lakshmi Narayan Chakrabarti was born in East Bengal.
He graduated as a doctor in Calcutta before coming to the UK in 1967.
He first worked in Yorkshire before moving to Lincoln and then Grantham where he was a registrar.
He achieved a Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh before becoming a consultant at Grantham.
He became the first consultant in charge of A&E at Grantham in the 1980s.
He retired in 1995 but supported all of the campaigns against downgrading his old department.
A keen bridge player, he played at the former George Hotel and later at the Town and Country Club.
Dr Chakrabarti died after collapsing at his Harlaxton Road home and was taken to Lincoln Hospital.
