Celebrating the work of police volunteers

June 3, 2024 by Grantham Matters Leave a Comment

2024-06-03 Roger Barnell.jpgPolice Support Volunteer Roger Barnell working in the vehicle workshop at HQ. Today (3 June) marks the start of Volunteers’ Week 2024. Over the next seven days we will be shining a light on those volunteers whose tireless work helps to keep people safe across Lincolnshire. We’ll hear from Cadets, Cadet Leaders, police support volunteers and Special Constables. To mark the start of this week, we spoke to Assistant Chief Constable Chris Davison – who joined the Cadets, in Grantham in 1991 – to talk about the huge value our volunteers bring to the Force.

Transcript”Here at Lincolnshire Police we’ve got a really proud history of working with volunteers across the whole of policing.”I myself started my own policing journey as a police cadet between 1991 and 1994 at Grantham.”So, we have lots of roles available to people who want to volunteer to help their communities, and keep them safe “Whether that’s Special Constables, or whether it’s police staff volunteers, or even if you’re somebody who wants to help train our new recruits and be a role actor – there are lots and lots of ways you can join in and help. “But really, this week it’s about celebrating the great work that our volunteers already do. “They give thousands of hours, per year, to the organisation. And actually what that means is we can keep Lincolnshire safer thanks to their efforts.”So if you are one of our volunteers thank you ever so much for all that you do, and if you want to be a volunteer, please contact us on the link below.”You can find out more about volunteering at Lincolnshire Police at this link.
