AS a 14-vear-old apprentice, Ron Lee was returning to work after his
lunch break to find Grantham’s leading photographer Walter Lee taking a
picture of his workmates. .
They were on the platform which would become the balcony in the State
(later Granada) Cinema, St Peter’s Hill. _
Walter told him if he was snappy, young Ron could be on it too.
it was in March 1937 and Ron, who lives at Old Somerby can name half of them.
They are Charlie Dewey, Albert Stevens, Charlie Fenwick, George Brown, Dewey, Albert Stevens, Charlie Fenwi.k George Browr^,
Tom Parker, Hughie Stevens, Jack Debanks, Ron Lee Walter Tilley, Jack
Sharp, Don Barnes, Albert Emmitt, Jack White and H. Lambley.
