POLICE are appealing for information after two attempted thefts of dogs while being walked by their owners.
The first incident happened at around 3pm on Thursday December 11 between Easthorpe Road and Belvior Road, in Bottesford and the second incident happened at 8am on Monday December 15 in the field off Grantham Road, in the village.
In the first incident, the victim, a 52-year-old woman, was walking three dogs on the dirt track near the village hall when she was approached by two men who attempted to steal them. They made off without taking any of the dogs.
In the second, the victim, a 64-year-old man, was walking from Grantham Road, into a field off an area known as the Stackyard when two suspects attempted to steal his dog.
They made off without the dog and were seen walking in the direction of Granary Road
The first suspect is described as Asian, approximately 20 years old, of slim build and around 5’8’’ – 5’0’’.
He was wearing a dark coloured hooded top with the hood up and gloves.
The second suspect is also described as Asian, and was wearing a dark coloured top and black gloves.
DS 4226 Emma Gilbert, who is investigating the case said: “We would like to speak to anyone who has any information about either of these two incidents.
“We would also urge people to be extra vigilant when walking their dogs, try to stay in well-lit areas and walk with a friend if possible.
“If you see anything suspicious whilst out walking your dog, please report it to us.”
