ARE you missing The Great British Bake Off?
Then join in with South Kesteven District Council’s Great Christmas Cake Off in Grantham’s George Centre next month.
The tasty all-ages and all- abilities cake baking competition is an added ingredient to Small Business Saturday, to be celebrated throughout the district on 6 December.
Bakers are being asked to follow a festive theme within three different categories, with cakes being judged by a selected panel of people either proficient in baking or eating cakes!
Grantham MP Nick Boles is one of the judges, together with Julie Duff who runs award winning Church Farmhouse Cakes at Croxton Kerrial and Grantham College Hospitality and Catering Lecturer Tracie West.
Organisers then plan to sell off cakes submitted, with proceeds to a local charity.
The categories are:
- Festive Junior (under 16)
- Santa’s Young Baker (16+)
- Supreme Christmas Cake-Off (21+)
Cakes will be judged on appearance, taste and how well they convey Christmas, with prizes for the winner and runner-up of each category.
Only one entry will be allowed per contestant. Register to enter by sending your name and telephone number, along with chosen category by Friday 28 November to charlotte.watson@southkesteven.gov.uk.
Full details and timings will be confirmed to entrants.
The ‘Cake-Off’ is only a small part of what SKDC will be promoting on Small Business Saturday to help local small businesses.
