At 4 o’clock yesterday, I left work at Grantham College.
I walked down Stonebridge Road and was waiting to cross over Welham Street, where I would have carried on up Avenue Road.
As I was walking across a white transit van pulled in front of me, and I was left, stood in the middle of the road.
The guy driving the van had his window down and said,’Have I seen you walking these streets in the dark alone before?’
He had an eastern European accent. I was shocked and impolitely, and loudly told him to go forth and multiple.
My concern is yes I do walk those streets when I leave work. Has this person been watching me other nights, how would I know.
The same goes for other lone females.
He drove away and must have gone up Union Street and then back up Castlegate because I saw him pass me going back down Avenue Road.
I phoned the police but of course, they have done nothing (Shock Horror).
Why would they I am just a lone female walking home alone in the dark having to deal with this situation.
The vehicle was a white transit van, no marks, really clean looking, UK plates. I didn’t have time to read the licence plate. I’m not sure what CCTV is around that area.
The driver had very close cropped sandy coloured hair, clean shaven I would say late 40s. Please Please make people aware of this situation so we can stay safe.
