Who do you know on this photo?

January 24, 2018 by Grantham Matters Leave a Comment

THESE ladies, with their children, were members of St John’s Young Wives Fellowship.
The group met variously at the vicarage, Station Road (now a surgery) and Springfield (“Springy”) Mission where the Lindons, Stamford Street, now stands.
But can any reader tell us where it was taken? It looks like St John’s Church in the distance but we are unable to recognise the building immediately behind them..
The picture, taken in July 1948, shows, from left, back row – ?, Mrs Pelter (vicar’s wife), Mrs Flowers, ?, Mrs Sancto, Mrs Callow, Mrs Bird, Mrs Weavers, and ?; third row – Elsie Southwell, Mrs Briggs, Mrs Ayres, Mrs Rudkin, Beryl Neal, ?, Mrs Thomas and Daisy Bennett; second row – ?, Clyde Thomas, Sheila Southwell, Peter Burnett, Sylvia Thomas, Mrs Shelford and John Shelford; front – Roger Weavers, Roseann Weavers, Sue Southwell, ?, and Elizabeth Burnett.
The picture was sent in by Sue Redmile of Vine Street, Grantham.
