In the early hours of Monday 28 August a woman in her 20s was alone outside The Works on the High Street when she was approached by a stranger.
The man started chatting to her and then sexually assaulted her.
She managed to escape but he was persistent and tried to assault her again. This happened at around 3.10am.
It is believed the offender may have then harassed other women in the area.
He told the victim he was from Newark. Police are also interested in hearing from any women who may have been harassed by the same man.
The suspect is described as black, in his mid 30s, of a slim build, 6ft tall with short black hair, a short beard and a moustache. He was wearing a black and red checked shirt.
