Frederick Hector Wright (1907-1954)
Frederick Hector Wright was a Fellow the Institute of the Motor Industry, Fellow the Institute of Directors, and a member of the Institute of Motor Engineers, Hector Wright was at one time secretary of tile Lincoln branch of the Motor Agents’ Association, and until his resignation recently owing to ill health. He had been chairman of the Grantham branch since its formation.
He joined the firm of motor dealers Whipple’s, Watergate, about 1930 as personal salesman for the late Mr Whipple, and on his death in Mr Wright succeeded him as managing director.
A native of Netherfield, Nottingham, Mr Wright, was the son of a former Grantham railwayman.
Mr Wright had played bowls for Lincolnshire a number of occasions was past president of the Lincolnshire Bowling Association. He held honorary life membership of the Welsh Bowling Association, and for many years was chairman of the Grantham Bowls Club.
He was also sergeant in the Special Constabulary and during the war held office in the Royal Observer Corps.
He also acted one of the adjudicators the Coronation decorated streets competition in 1951.
