The 26th annual Swaton Vintage Day and World Egg Throwing Championships planned for 28 June 2020 has been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
It will return in June 2021.
Chairman Charles Camion said: “We are extremely sorry to be making this devastating decision and have been monitoring the news and advice continually. “As the situation has unfolded and intensified we realise we have no alternative but to cancel.”
But nearby Heckington is still going ahead with plans for this year’s Heckington Show to go ahead on 25th & 26th July 2020. It is the UK’s biggest village show with tens of thousands of visitors each year.
A spokesman said: “Despite the fast-moving situation, there is no current reason to rule out the possibility of having a show, so the volunteer team are busy making sure everything is ready for the show to take place if it is safe to do so.
“To support businesses we are only requiring a 20% deposit for new trade stand applications instead of the usual full amount payable on booking. These will be refundable in full if the show is cancelled
“We will be closely monitoring events as they unfold and will post updates on our website as new advice becomes available.
“ Should we have to cancel the Show due to the extension of the Government Corona-virus regulations, all entry fees, tickets, trade stand fees and deposits will be refunded in full.”
