The last decade has seen significant challenges for the county council, with the combined pressures of reduced government funding and increasing demand for services.
As a result, our authority has had to adapt and find new ways of delivering the services you rely on. This successful transformation has meant we’ve been able to continue delivering a wide range of good services, despite the financial challenges.
Cllr Martin Hill OBE, leader of Lincolnshire County Council, said: “Ensuring our residents get good value for money is a priority for the council.
“All our services continually look for ways to be more efficient, and we often invest today to save to tomorrow. Combined with a culture of strong financial management, that has meant that we have been able to continue to deliver good services at a time when many other councils are struggling to balance the books. And we’ve achieved all this whilst still having one of the lowest council tax rates in the country.
“In recent years, we’ve introduced a ‘one council’ approach to ensure our services are more joined-up, making them more efficient and effective. We’ve also made greater use of digital technology to streamline our operations and find savings, and we’ve maintained a strong focus on preventative and early help services to avoid the need for more costly support further down the line.
“Looking ahead, we will continue to make intelligent investment in infrastructure to make sure our communities are ready for the future. And we remain committed to driving forward devolution plans for our area, which will bring hundreds of millions of pounds of extra funding to the region. Devolution will also bring opportunities for local authorities and other organisations to collaborate more closely, helping us all work better for you.”
