Work begins on Grantham’s latest 300-home estate

January 28, 2020 by Grantham Matters Leave a Comment

Work has begun on 300 new homes in Grantham, resulting in a £2.1m investment into the local community from Countryside, the mixed-tenure developer.

The start of work on site, off Barrowby Road, sees the introduction of a new collection of family homes to the town, named The Colleys, in addition to a financial commitment from Countryside which will see investment in public services for the local people.

Investment into local education and healthcare is on the agenda, with £1.17m earmarked for Grantham West Academy and Walton Girls School. A further £130,500 will support NHS services including the improvement and extension of Vine Street Surgery.

The investment also includes provision of affordable homes, a £20,000 contribution towards the creation of a new bus shelter on Barrowby Road, £60,000 funding towards needed improvements to local highways, as well as £15,000 to enhance local transport services.

Glyn Mabey, Managing Director, Partnerships East Midlands, Countryside, said: “This is a significant milestone for our East Midlands business, as works commence on our second open-market development within the region following our launch last year.

“Our partnership with South Kesteven District Council will see us create so much more than just new homes by helping to redefine and reinvigorate the area through significant investment into vital public services.

“Contributing to Grantham’s sustainable economic growth and that of the wider Lincolnshire area is a key priority for Countryside as we introduce this development to the market. We are confident that our presence in the area will positively impact the area’s social and physical regeneration for the benefit of new and existing residents.”

The Colleys is named after the Poet Laureate Colley Cibber.
