Stephen Woollas (1964-2014)
GRANTHAM-born Steve was educated at St Anne’s School, St Hugh’s and Grantham College.
His first job was at Chandlers of Westgate, becoming manager of the Calor gas department.
This was followed by a variety of jobs at roofing firms, Brake Bros, Genie and G W Padley.
His final employment was at Vacu-Lug, he died in an industrial accident involving a forklift truck. He had worked there four years.
Steve became a scooter enthusiast and was the founder of the Grantham Daytrippers Scooter Club.
He started out with a modded up little vespa 90 and had scooters ever since although not always on the road.
His pride and joy was a blue Lambretta Li 150 series 2.
Steve had been a Gooner (Arsenal fan) since he was 10 and enjoyed socialising.
His funeral was marked with an escort by dozens of fellow scooter riders led by his own Lambretta ridden by one of his best friends Jonny Foss and Steve’s youngest son Jack on pillion.
