After two years of growing her business through social media, a woman is preparing to launch a physical wax melt store in Newark. Emma Sullivan started making and selling her own wax melts after she struggled to find products that lasted long enough or businesses that offered a large enough range in scents.

Emma initially started her wax melt journey several years ago but stopped to focus on other things, as the mum was running other businesses in the town, but two and a half years ago she started making wax melts again. Explaining: “I have always owned businesses for the last eight to nine years, so it was pretty easy to get into as I knew what to do.

“I did it years ago but stopped as I had too much on and thought I would give it another go. We now have 600 fragrances.”

Adding: “We were going to stick to ten scents and then it just got bigger and bigger.” The 42-year-old has been sharing her business journey on TikTok, with her account LYB Melts and More now having over 4,500 followers.

Through the account Emma, of Newark, has been sharing behind-the-scenes videos with her customers, lots of wax melt news and key updates about the shop. LYB Melts and More LTD will be launching on Carter Gate on Saturday, September 21, and is expecting it to be “quite busy.”

She said: “We have people planning to travel down from all over. Some people are coming from Grantham as they haven’t got anything like this. It will hopefully bring a few more people into Newark as well.”

In addition to a huge range of scents, Emma will be selling wax burners, a range of bath and body products and gift items through her store, with even more personalised gift options available on her website for collection in store.

She will be running the shop with her daughter and can’t wait to open next week. Emma added: “I’m really excited but a bit nervous.

“It has taken me three weeks to make 7,000 bars to stock the shop up.” Each wax melt bar costs £3 but Emma will be running an offer where you can get any four bars for £10.

Unlike other businesses, Emma also prides herself on offering festive and seasonal scents all year round, so customers don’t have to wait until Autumn and Christmas for their favourite scents. She shared that some of her most popular scents include the fresh and clean one and the Spanish cleaning scents.
