Who remembers this Grantham pub? – The answer

February 1, 2019 by Grantham Matters 9 Comments

The Manners Arms, London Road – taken in 1939. A couple of years later the garage was hit by a German bomb as was the Joiners Arms across the Road.

Looks a lot bigger than I remember it, but wasn’t there a garage and pub close to each other on North Parade, somewhere near Kings Hotel. Original ‘odd house’ (not the Fletcher st one)

It looks like the Blue Bell which was at the corner of North Street and Barrowby Road. It was situated where the traffic lights filter lane leads to ASDA and A52 to Nottingham.
The garage next door was Hopkins which later belonged to R M Wrights..

The Oddfellows was near Levics Garage which in turn is near the Kings Hotel.

The Joiners (Spittlegate) was a few doors from the Spotted. The Spotted didn’t get hit.
