Actually the party was in the newly built KEATS AVENUE and in the first picture the view is up towards Tennyson Avenue and the second view is down the road and you can see Shakespeare Avenue crossing Keats Avenue – and with Harrowby Lane at the bottom. On the right at the bottom of the street was the site of the Cherry Tree pub which is now, I believe, a Tesco Express
I struggle to remember the names of everyone who would have been at that party – but I am sure that Michael and Ann Dickinson, Carol and Ginnie Lovegrove, Susan and Martin Pettit, John Sutton, Susan Jolley would all have been round the table –
Does anyone else have names to fill in the gaps?
Both pictures were taken by the Grantham Journal
Top photo far right at back dark hair glasses, I’m pretty sure its my mother Greta Pettit. Bottom photo front left is my brother Martin and sister Susan Pettit. We were at 17 Keats Ave. Susan would know them all, let me know if there are any you are unsure of.
Poor little chap in the coat is not allowed near the sandwiches in both photos bless him.
