As Lincolnshire moves into Tier 4 as the year comes to an end, Assistant Chief Constable Kerrin Wilson has asked Lincolnshire residents to continue to do their part in fighting Coronavirus by staying home and staying safe.
“If this were a ‘normal’ New Year’s Eve I would be wishing you all a happy New Year and asking you to stay safe,” she said. “What I’m saying now is exactly the same, but with the difference this year that I’m asking you to stay at home to stay safe.
“The rising rates of infection in the county, asymptomatic transmission, and pressure on the NHS are just some of the reasons we’ve been placed in Tier 4. It’s not a situation any of us wanted to be in.
“There is light at the end of this dark tunnel with the roll out of the vaccines. But until we are able to move back to a less-restricted way of life we all must continue to do our bit.
“No New Year’s Eve parties tonight please, stick to your own households and support bubbles, and lets look forward to a positive 2021 when we can all get together again.
“New Year’s Eve is a time to reflect and ring in the changes and I hope that whatever you are doing tonight you are at home, happy, and safe.
“From myself and all of us at Lincolnshire Police – have a very Happy New Year.”
