Watkins to remain closed for a further week

Grantham’s most popular food shop is to remain shut for a further week.

Pork butcher, baker and takeaway snack specialist Watkins of Westgate, has been hit by the Corona virus.

During the Christmas break, one of the bakers tested positive for corona virus.

A spokesman said: “Although nobody else has tested positive we made the decision to keep our shop closed until Monday 4th January.

“This is to protect all our staff and customers during the isolation period, we are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. “

Since then, it has been decided to extend the closure until Monday 11^th.

The spokesman continued: “Due to a large number of our staff self-isolating we have made a difficult decision to remain closed for another week.

“It is our number one priority to ensure all our staff and customers remain safe during this difficult time.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and thank everyone for their continued support.”
